The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.

The Public League has shifted its premier event, the boys basketball tournament, all over the city the last few years. With a potential brand-new arena near McCormick Place, the Public League might finally have a place to call home.
Jane Trzaska has already helped Glenbard South clinch a Class 3A softball championship. Now the senior pitcher/catcher looks to guide the Raiders to a successful defense of their title.
The Loyola and New Trier girls soccer teams have met in a sectional final in each of the last four years, and they will continue that trend at 7 p.m. Friday evening after the Trevians took down Lane, 5-0, and the Ramblers ousted Maine South, 5-2, in sectional semifinal action Tuesday.
Hinsdale Central scored three times in seven minutes in the second half, as it eased to a 3-0 sectional semifinal win against Benet. The Red Devils move on to face the winner of the Lyons/WW South match.
Lincoln-Way West beat Lincoln-Way Central 25-23, 25-22 and Lincoln-Way North took down Shepard Lincoln-Way North beat Shepard 25-10, 25-16 to advance to the Lincoln-Way Central regional final.

McKenzee Kroeschell's success in pole vault for Oak Park-River Forest has caused a spike in the number of vaulters on the Huskies track team. Kroeschell capped her career on Saturday by placing second at the state meet.

Hinsdale South's Tavaris Binion said he and Hornets coach Dean Norman have grown closer over the years. Track practices and meets are not only about “shop” talk, but Binion and Norman have taken time out to talk about each other’s families.
Stevenson's Willie Bourbon is a rare three-sport athlete. Through talent and hard work, the sophomore hasn't been forced to narrow his focus and doesn't look to be doing so any time soon.
