Lemont's Charlie Wright pitched shutout ball into the sixth inning and the Indians scored four runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings en route to a 9-1 victory over Lincoln-Way West in the semifinals of the Class 3A Lemont Regional.
Plainfield North pitcher Zach Zyburt threw a complete-game four hitter to lead his team to a 4-0 win over Naperville North in a Class 4A Regional semifinal at Naperville Central Thursday.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.

Brother Rice named Rick Harrigan, Class 2002, its basketball coach on Friday. Harrigan was named the Catholic League’s Most Outstanding Player his senior season, as well as Lawless Award winner in 2002.

The Public League has shifted its premier event, the boys basketball tournament, all over the city the last few years. With a potential brand-new arena near McCormick Place, the Public League might finally have a place to call home.
Lake Zurich rallied for a 5-4 win over Glenbrook North in nine innings on Thursday in regional action after junior Maria Schroeder drove in the winning run with two outs in the ninth. The original matchup had been scheduled for Wednesday, but was postponed due to rain.
After flying under the radar while containing a model of consistency for its program, Parker will play in the Class 1A state semifinals on Friday with hopes of obtaining the school's first state championship.

Ryan Njegovan threw the discus a 2A state final record 188 feet, 4 inches, to position himself for a state title on Friday. Njegovan leads the Knights, who are eyeing a state trophy after qualifying seven individuals for the finals.
