Bolingbrook’s offense scored on seven of its first eight possessions in a 45-28 victory Friday night over Homewood-Flossmoor in a SouthWest Suburban Blue showdown.

This win marks the first time Bolingbrook beat H-F in two straight meetings since 2005 and ’06. In 2011, the Raiders won 41-28.

For the host Raiders, it was the first major test of the season after outscoring Plainfield South, Romeoville, Joliet Central and Joliet West by a combined score of 177-34. Those four teams entered the fifth week of the season with a combined 2-14 record.

The Raiders were down for the first time this season, trailing 7-6 with 5:33 left in the first quarter after H-F’s Lionel James capped a 10-play drive with a 19-yard run.

Bolingbrook (5-0, 3-0) scored on its next three possessions while the defense kept the Vikings out of the end zone, the Raiders taking a 25-7 halftime lead.

H-F (3-2, 1-2) was unable to get closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Bolingbrook’s Aaron Bailey ran for 156 yards on 23 carries and scored three touchdowns and was 4-of-4 passing for 51 yards.

“We played a great game and they played a great game,” Bailey said. “It was exciting. We wanted to keep it rolling.”

Running back Omar Stover ran for 145 yards and Jaden Huff scored two touchdowns.

Raiders coach John Ivlow said he liked the first-half effort but was “livid” with his team for allowing long passes and committing two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties on an H-F drive late in the game.

“That was garbage football — that’s not us,” he said.

The Vikings will try regroup after back-to-back losses to Lincoln-Way East and Bolingbrook as they face Lockport, Joliet Central and Joliet over their next three games.

H-F quarterback Ronald Johnson threw for 161 yards and three touchdowns in Friday’s game.
