Wheaton Academy running back John Gemmel rushed for 290 yards and scored six touchdowns as the Warriors overcame a 26-point, third-quarter deficit, rallying past host Walther Lutheran 56-52 Saturday in Melrose Park.
The Warriors (1-4, 1-2 Suburban Christian Gold) score the game’s final 30 points.
“Offensively, we played very well and defensively we struggled a bit,” Wheaton Academy coach TJ Ragan said. “Walther Lutheran has some big play athletes and they hurt us.
“But the thing about the game was our kids really wanted to win and they were able to do that.”
