Illinois Visitors

Saturday Illinois hosted several top prospects from the area, including a pair of brothers from Charleston High.

Illinois 2013 commit and Charleston High cornerback Dylan Cazley and younger brother Josh Cazley were both in attendance.

“I like that I have been around enough at Illinois to see that they act as a family,” the younger Cazley reflected. “They are a band of brothers and they really promote that.”

He continued, “Last Saturday I got the chance to talk to Coach Beckman and some of the other coaches too.”

Another prospect that left Illinois impressed, was Mount Carmel 2014 defensive lineman  Enoch Smith Jr.

“It was great getting the opportunity to see them play,” Smith said. “I enjoyed the visit even though they didn’t end up winning.”

Illinois opens Big Ten play against Penn State Saturday — and it will be another big visit weekend. Two of the highest profile visitors? Bolingbrook High teammates 2014 defensive back Parrker Westphal and 2013 quarterback and Illinois commit Aaron Bailey are slated to be in attendance.

2014 Prospects On Visits

Although the class of 2013 doesn’t sign their letter of intent until February, the spotlight is now on 2014 prospects.

One of the highest profiled players in the area is Marist High tight end prospect Nic Weishar, who visited Notre Dame Saturday.

“I like how Notre Dame uses their big guy Tyler Eifert,” Weishar said.  “So it’s fun to watch him and where they are putting him because they see me as kind of like him.”

Saturday’s visit won’t be Weishars last of the season, he plans to visit Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern and Iowa.

Another top Chicago area prospect in the class of 2014 is Plainfield South linebacker Clifton Garrett — who also traveled to South Bend for Saturday’s game.

“Recruiting is going well,” Garrett said. “The visits have been great, and the Notre Dame game was so fun.”

He continued excitedly, “Just the whole visit went really well.”

Several 2014 prospects have big visits coming up, including Neuqua Valley wide receiver Mike Dudek, who will visit Iowa State Saturday.

“The main schools right now for me are Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa State,” Dudek said. “And with visiting Iowa State I am just excited to see what the whole Big 12 atmosphere is like, I camped there in the summer and liked the campus and coaches.”
