It's been a whirlwind weekend for Denzel Ward.
On Friday night, Ward and his Hales football teammates made the trek to southern Illinois to play Cahokia. The Spartans won 13-0 to clinch their second consecutive IHSA playoff berth with their sixth victory of the season.
After getting back to Chicago at 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Ward got two hours' sleep and then headed to Ann Arbor, Mich., to see the Michigan-Michigan State game. While there, Ward committed to Michigan, Hales coach Randall Townsel confirmed on Saturday night.
The 6-foot-9, 285-pound junior offensive tackle transferred to Hales before this season from North Lawndale, where he played basketball. Ward also had an offer from Purdue and drew interest from Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State and Wisconsin among others.
