Tickets for the District 204 rematch go on sale Wednesday at both high schools.
Waubonsie Valley’s football team travels to Neuqua Valley Saturday for a 6 p.m. IHSA Class 8A quarterfinal playoff game. It’s a rematch of their Week 7 regular season contest, won 35-34 in double overtime by Neuqua in front of a standing-room-only crowd of 10,000-plus at North Central College.
“I don’t know what (Neuqua Valley’s stadium) holds in the stands and I don’t know if they’ll put a cap on it but I hope we hit the cap,” said Waubonsie Valley Athletic Director Mike Rogowski.
First-year Neuqua Valley football coach Bill Ellinghaus, whose team is making its first quarterfinal appearance in school history, wasn’t sure how many fans can be accommodated in the stands and athletic director Barb Barrows was out of town for a wedding.
Tickets, priced at $6 each for all ages and set by the IHSA, will be sold Wednesday through Friday from 9:15 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Waubonsie Valley.
“Students can buy them during their lunch periods just outside the main office and adults can buy them just off the main entrance to the school,” said Rogowski.
Tickets will be sold Wednesday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Neuqua Valley’s high school athletic office (enter through Door 53) and at the freshman building.
There is no reserved seating in the stadium and seating is not guaranteed. No tickets will be sold to middle school or elementary age students at the game. Parents must purchase those tickets and must remain at the game to supervise their child, school officials said.
No mechanical noise makers, horns or whistles will be allowed into the stadium.
