Five Larkin players earn All-UEC River honors

Larkin’s individual talent wasn’t overlooked when coaches from the Upstate Eight River met at the end of the regular season to decide their all-conference team.

The Royals had five players land All-UEC River honors despite the fact Larkin posted a 2-7 overall record. Headlining the group was senior offensive lineman Alex Schabert, who garnered all-conference recognition for the third year in a row.

Larkin senior running Mo Jackson returned to the All-UEC River team for the second straight year. The other Royals named to the team were senior offensive lineman Adam Hamiel, junior running back Damion Clemons and junior defensive back Alex Duran.

Senior linebacker Joe Hoscheit topped the list of eight St. Charles East players to receive all-conference recognition. Hoscheit, who was named to the team for the second straight year, also landed UEC River Defensive MVP honors in a unanimous vote.

Junior receiver Brannon Barry, junior offensive lineman Ben Smith, junior quarterback Jimmy Mitchell, senior defensive lineman Andrew Szyman, junior linebacker Michael Candre, senior defensive back Anthony Sciarrino and junior defensive back Mitch Munroe were the other Saints to earn All-UEC River honors.

Streamwood matched Larkin with five all-conference selections. Senior offensive lineman A.J. Mitchell and senior linebacker Vince Williams both became two-time All-UEC River honorees for the Sabres. The team’s other recipients were senior receiver Blake Holder, senior offensive lineman Mike Murawski and senior defensive linemen Trent McCaw and Kushtrim Berisha.

St. Charles North’s three all-conference players were senior running back George Edlund, senior defensive back Nick McCullough and junior linebacker Reece Conroyd. Elgin High’s two honorees were senior offensive lineman Zach Lindstrom and senior defensive lineman Ethan Henke.

Bartlett lands six on All-UEC Valley team

Senior running back Aaron Everson and senior linebacker Kevin Kirchhoff headline the group of seven Bartlett players named to the All-UEC Valley team.

Kirchhoff, a two-time all-conference honoree, finished second in voting for All-UEC Valley Defensive MVP behind Waubonsie Valley’s Austin Lacke. Everson was third in Offensive MVP voting behind co-MVPs Austin Guido of Waubonsie Valley and Joey Rhattigan of Neuqua Valley.

Senior Chris Kantzavelos, a two-way standout for the Hawks, was recognized for his play at tight end after landing All-UEC Valley honors as a defensive end his junior year.

Senior defensive back Nick Andreucetti also landed All-UEC Valley honors for the second straight year. Bartlett’s other players named to the all-conference team were senior offensive lineman George Danek and senior defensive lineman Alex Piedra.

South Elgin also had six players earn All-UEC Valley recognition. Junior receiver Tyler Christensen, senior offensive lineman Zach Saldivar, junior quarterback Rob Cuda, senior defensive lineman Nick Zimmerman, junior linebacker Nate Marotta and senior defensive back Jon Ortega made up the Storm’s contingent.

St. Edward pair named All-SCC Blue

St. Edward senior linebacker Joe Stump capped his high school career by landing All-Suburban Christian Blue honors. Also garnering all-conference recognition for the Green Wave was junior running back Davontae Elam.
