LITTLE TEN
Outlook: Hinckley-Big Rock returns five senior starters from undefeated league champs, led by third team 1A IBCA All-Stater Bernie Conley (14.2 ppg) and special mention all-stater Jared Madden (11.3 ppg, 3 steals). Newark four-year starter, 6-3 Brett Anderson (21.4 ppg, 10.4 reb.) is league’s top player but second leading scorer (Adam Shorkey) from last year’s runnerup Norsemen moved to Iowa. Indian Creek and Paw Paw, especially if seniors Justin Wyley and Zach Lilja stay healthy, should battle for No. 2 spot as well.
Top five players: Brett Anderson, Newark, F, Sr.; Bernie Conley, H-BR, G, Sr.; Jared Madden, H-BR, G, Sr.; Jaron Todd, Indian Creek, G, Sr.; Nicholas Siemers, Paw Paw, G, Jr.
Did you know? H-BR’s Conley was an all-state selection in soccer this fall after leading the Royals to a third-place finish in the Class 1A State Tournament.
Quote: “H-BR is gonna be tough with that whole junior class back. We played them tough (last year) when we got healthy.” — Paw Paw Coach Dave Glenn.
Predicted finish: Hinckley-Big Rock, Paw Paw, Newark, Indian Creek, Somonauk, Serena, Leland-Earlville, Kirkland Hiawatha, LaMoille.
