Check out the Mid-Suburban West outlook, predicted order of finish, top five players and more here.

MID-SUBURBAN WEST

Outlook: Defending league champion Schaumburg will try to break a streak of three consecutive sectional final losses – including a 78-39 pasting by Proviso East last year – behind the leadership of 6-1 guard Kyle Bolger and the inside play of 6-6 senior Jimmy Lundquist, both three-year starters. The best of the rest of the league is Conant, which will be led by last year’s leading scorer, 6-5 senior forward Robert Hudson, and all-league guard D’Angelo McBride. Barrington’s Brad Zaumseil has a Division I offer from UC-Davis, but the Broncos don’t have much help around him.

Top five players: Kyle Bolger, Schaumburg, 6-1, G, Sr.; Riley Glassman, Fremd, 6-4, G. Jr.; Jimmy Lundquist, Schaumburg, 6-6, C, Sr.; Roosevelt Smart, Palatine, 6-2, G, So.; Brad Zaumseil, Barrington, 6-1, G, Sr.

Did you know? Schaumburg’s 2001 state championship team was the last Mid-Suburban League representative to win a state quarterfinal game and Conant (2007) was the last team to advance to a supersectional.

Quote: “All of our guys played a lot last year and we go about six or seven deep. I think we have a chance to be pretty good.” – Conant coach Tom McCormack.

Predicted finish: Schaumburg, Conant, Fremd, Barrington, Palatine, Hoffman Estates.
