First-year varsity starter at the position threw for 3,008 yards — including 339 vs. 5A state champ Montini — and 43 touchdowns in leading the Eagles to a successful defense of 3A state title.

Austin Guido, Waubonsie Valley

Beacon-News Player of the Year was Upstate Eight Valley’s co-Offensive Player of Year and Illinois Football Coaches Association Class 8A All-State selection after rushing for 2,236 yards and 30 TDs.

Mickeel Stewart, Oswego

Powered Southwest Prairie Conference champions’ ground game with 1,335 yards rushing to earn all-league and IFCA Class 7A All-State honors.

Tight end

Troy Fumagalli, Waubonsie Valley

Verbally committed to Wisconsin, Fumagalli was the run-oriented Warriors’ top aerial threat with 26 receptions for 441 yards and earned all-conference and IFCA Class 8A All-State honors.

Wide receivers

Chad Beebe, Aurora Christian

IFCA Class 3A All-State selection missed five games with a broken arm but still finished among area’s regular season receiving leaders and had a strong playoff run to top the charts with 65 catches for 980 yards and 15 TDs.

Jack Kwiatkowski, Oswego

Three-peat first teamer had half of his team’s receptions (32-660, 14 TDs) after seasons of 55 and 58 catches the last two years. Had area-best reception average of 20.1 yards in Panthers’ new offense that had nearly 4-1 run-pass ratio.

Zach Strittmatter, Batavia

Offensive Player of Year in Upstate Eight River also claimed IFCA Class 7A All-State honors after grabbing 52 passes for 798 yards and 13 TDs.

Offensive line

Connor Chapman, Geneva

Earned all-Upstate Eight Conference River Division honors as key member of a line that helped running back Bobby Hess pile up 1,496 yards rushing.

Adam Hunger, Batavia

All-Upstate Eight River honoree anchored line that helped produce 2,284 rushing yards and 1,821 passing yards for a team that was undefeated in regular season.

Jackson Hynes, Waubonsie Valley

The 6-7, 225-pound all-Upstate Eight Valley selection was the top blocker on a line that helped the Warriors gain 3,629 yards on the ground.

Jordan Smith, Oswego

This all-Southwest Prairie Conference honoree anchored a line that helped Mickeel Stewart pile up 1,335 yards rushing.

Zach Theis, Kaneland

The 6-4, 285-pound senior anchored the offensive line of the undefeated Northern Illinois Big 12 East champs and earned IFCA Class 5A All-State honors.

Kicker

Matt Rodriguez, Kaneland

Strong legged junior earned all-Northern Illinois Big 12 East honors after making 53 of 58 PAT kicks and 6 of 7 field goals, including 2-2 from 30-39 yards and 2-2 from 40-49.

SECOND TEAM

Quarterback

Micah Coffey, Batavia

The junior impressed by throwing for 1,732 yards with 18 TDs and just five interceptions (1 in every 45 passes) to lead the Bulldogs through an undefeated regular season, including season-opening win over eventual Class 8A runner-up Glenbard North.

Running backs

Bobby Hess, Geneva

All-Upstate Eight River honoree piled up 1,496 yards on the ground with 22 TDs despite being the focus of opposing defenses.

Anthony Scaccia, Batavia

Multi-threat performer earned all-conference honors and accounted for nearly 2,000 total yards (1,279 rushing, 249 receiving, 418 kickoff returns).

All-around

Sahr Mahoney, Mooseheart

Ramblers’ all-Northeast Conference pick had 604 yards rushing, 538 receiving, 177 returning kicks and 138 returning punts and handled kicker/punter duties.

Wide receivers

Cole Childs, West Aurora

The senior was an all-DuPage Valley Conference selection with 48 receptions for 746 yards and 13 TDs and started at defensive end.

Zack Martinelli, Kaneland

This all-Northern Illinois Big 12 East selection led the undefeated Knights with 43 catches for 731 yards (17.0 average) and 11 TDs.

Cory Windle, Aurora Christian

Eagles’ No. 2 option stepped up when Chad Beebe went down and finished the season with 50 catches for 898 yards and 17 TDs, averaging 18 yards per reception.

Offensive line

Kurtis Brummerstedt, Yorkville

All-Northern Illinois Big 12 East selection anchored a line that allowed Anton Jones to put up big numbers before being injured.

Jon Harris, Waubonsie Valley

All-Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division honoree was the Warriors’ No. 2 ranked blocker this season.

Tony Pendleton, Oswego East

Wolves’ right tackle and all-Southwest Prairie Conference selection had a dominating season and should play at the next level.

Alex Snyder, Kaneland

Helped anchor Knights’ mammoth front line and earned all-Northern Illinois Big 12 East honors.

Sebastian Vermaas, Batavia

One of three all-conference honorees who toiled up front for the 9-1 Bulldogs.

Bryan Watkins, West Aurora

Special mention DuPage Valley Conference selection made all 31 PAT kicks, had a 32.5 punt average and ran for a TD on a botched punt.
