Tickets are available for the seven games in the High School Hockey Faceoff, which will be held Feb. 8-9 at Soldier Field. The games are: Latin vs. St. Ignatius at 3 p.m., Evanston vs. Lincoln-Way at 5 and St. Viator vs. Benet at 7 on Feb. 8; and Oak Park-River Forest vs. Libertyville/Vernon Hills at noon, Mount Carmel vs. Glenbrook South at 2, St. Rita vs. Fenwick at 5 and New Trier Green vs. Loyola Gold at 7 on Feb. 9. Prospect’s Quentin Shaffer and New Trier’s Courtney Ackerman were the top local finishers at the Nike Cross Nationals last Saturday in Portland, Ore. Shaffer was 12th in the boys race and Ackrman finished sixth in the girls race. Teamwise, York’s boys took sixth, while New Trier’s girls were 11th and Naperville North’s girls finished 15th.
Prime-time players
Three local football players made the latest Rivals.com’s top 100 national list of seniors, which was released this week. Crete-Monee wide receiver Laquon Treadwell is No. 10, Lemont offensive lineman Ethan Pocic is 44th and St. Francis offensive lineman Kyle Bosch is 99th. Treadwell has not announced a college choice, while Pocic is committed to LSU and Bosch is committed to Michigan.
