De La Salle forward Alvin Ellis led all scorers with 25 points, including nine in the first quarter. The junior’s basket with just under two minutes gone in the fourth quarter closed an 11-1 run for the Meteors (5-1), who trailed 46-35 at the start of the period.

Paul Turner buried a three-pointer from the corner with 5:12 left in the game to give St. Joseph a 50-46 lead and halt the Meteors’ run of 11 straight points. After scoring nine points in the first quarter, Turner (14 points) missed six straight shots before the huge three-pointer.
