Lakes stayed in the North Suburban Prairie title picture by knocking off host Grant 69-52 on Friday in Fox Lake.
The Eagles (9-3, 4-1) play on Saturday against Hope Academy in the Jacobs tourney.
Grant (5-6 , 1-4) will host Grayslake North at 7 on Saturday on Day 1 of Grant’s own holiday tournament.
In Friday’s win, Lakes built an 11-point, first-quarter lead, saw Grant pull within three in the second quarter, and then regained control for good.
The lead was nine at half (39-30) and 16 after three quarters (58-42).
Andrew Spencer led the winners in scoring with 25 points, and was 6-of-8 from behind the three-point line in the game — hitting six straight from downtown after missing his first.
Justin Bergeron added 15 points and Direll Clark scored 12.
For Grant, Tom Blanchette led the way with 18 points. Steve Dunning had 14 and Frank Tokarz scored 11.
“I thought we had a pretty solid stretch in the third quarter,” said Lakes coach Chris Snyder. “We were able to force some turnovers and hit some threes, and that’s what helped provide the separation.
“Grant kept fighting back and fighting back, but I think our kids responded well.”
