During a recent campus visit to Illinois, Hinsdale Central junior tight end Ian Bunting added his third offer.

“I really like how coach Tim Beckman made sure to talk about how the team is family oriented,” Bunting said. “Because that is very important to me. One of my favorite parts of football is the brotherhood that develops throughout the season.”

It was a day that Bunting won’t soon forget.

“The offer was amazing, I am really excited about the offer and grateful to the coaches and team,” Bunting said. “I can’t wait to keep in contact with them and hopefully visit again soon.”

Bunting also holds offers from Purdue and Vanderbilt.

Wesley has one

Illinois was the first to offer Thornton junior wide receiver Juwan Wesley.
“I went up to Illinois on a visit and attended a basketball game,” Wesley said. “I got to talk to the staff and also had a great conversation with head coach Tim Beckman.

‘‘It was then he said he wanted to offer me a scholarship.”

Wesley, who is the younger brother of Thornton senior Vanderbilt recruit Jalen Banks, was pretty excited about his first scholarship offer.

“I was really happy,” Wesley said. “It was really unexpected. So much so that I didn’t even really know what to say.”

Early enrollment

Two notable Chicago standouts will enroll early for college, including St. Francis offensive lineman Kyle Bosch and Lemont offensive lineman Ethan Pocic.

Bosch will enroll at Michigan and Pocic LSU within the week.

All-star combines

Several of the top performers from the Chicago area impressed recently at combines. Mount Carmel’s Enoch Smith Jr. attended at the Proving Ground Combine in Los Angeles, while De La Salle’s Mikale Wilbon was at the Under Armor Combine in Orlando.

“I wanted to go out and show my aggressiveness and that I can go out and make plays,” Smith said.

At the Army Combine in San Antonio, Mount Carmel running back Matt Domer, Andrew running back Jarvion Franklin, Stevenson quarterback Willie Bourbon and St. Charles North offensive lineman Chase Gianacakos performed well.

All of the above are juniors, except Bourbon.

“I am one of the few sophomores here,” Bourbon said. “I have always been playing against older guys. I think today I stacked up pretty well against everyone.”

Gianacakos was excited about the overall experience.

“Everything out here went well,” Gianacakos said. “It was a little nerve racking at first, but I got over it and got into the groove.”
