Glenbrook North led 27-0 after one quarter in Northbrook en route to a 60-17 victory over Maine East, Friday night in a Central Suburban North conference game.
“We came out and played with great offensive intensity,” Spartans coach David Weber said.
Glenbrook North’s 6-8 center, Andrew McAuliffe had 10 (5-5 field goals) of his game-high 16 points in the first quarter, as the Spartans (8-7, 4-1) were 11-15 from the field in the first quarter.
“We put them away right from the start, and we kept pushing it,” McAuliffe said.
Maine East (5-10, 1-4) had nine turnovers and were 0-6 from the field in the opening eight minutes. The Blue Demons scored their first points of the game with 6:23 left in the second quarter on a driving layup by Travon Jones to make the score 29-2.
Leading 39-4 at halftime, the Spartans open the third quarter with six straights points as the lead ballooned to 45-4.
Kurt Karis and Jason Markus had 8 points apiece for Glenbrook North. Marco Protic came off the bench to lead Maine East with 8 points and 7 rebounds. Maine East finished with 24 turnovers, while Glenbrook North had 11.
