Morgan Park coach Nick Irvin sent the following statement to the Sun-Times early Thursday morning:

"On behalf of the Morgan Park basketball team, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of the young man who was killed Wednesday night after our game against Simeon. There is no comparison between losing a tough basketball game and knowing someone lost their life and did not go home to their family after attending a family event.  I am deeply saddened by this tragedy that is happening far too often in this city that we love.  We will continue to educate our young people on solving their disagreements without violence."
