Davis and Taylor went to work right away in the third quarter with a layup and a right-handed flick into the basket to tie the score at 31. After senior forward Justin Busiel regained the lead for the Titans with a floater, Davis knocked down a three-pointer to give the Bulldogs a lead they would never relinquish.

Waukegan was just getting started in the post, however. Leading 34-33, senior guard Jordan Johnson missed a three-pointer, but junior forward Jerome Davis was there for the putback. Shortly thereafter, Quintin Davis deftly slipped under the basket for a lefty layup. The Bulldogs' hustle and grit was best summarized by a sequence of plays with Waukegan already clinging to a 38-33 lead.

Following a Bulldogs' miss, the Titans appeared to have the rebound, but Waukegan pried the ball loose, setting up a floater for Quintin Davis. Davis missed the floater, but again, Waukegan's active hands allowed it to tip the ball out to keep its possession alive. Though the Bulldogs would get just one point out of the possession, it was an apt summary of the night.

All along, Waukegan's bench loudly cheered each offensive rebound and each Bulldogs' triumph around the basket. The Bulldogs ultimately were a little too fired up, as Jerome Davis earned a technical foul for hanging on the rim after his dunk attempt bounced out. It appeared that Davis was holding onto the rim with one hand while attempting to reclaim possession of the ball with his other hand, thus earning the technical.

Taylor made sure the Titan Dome would get its aerial display, however, flying high for a dunk that put Waukegan up 52-38.

"When they hit a couple of shots, that was enough for them to get a lot of momentum," Glenbrook South coach Ben Widner said. "They hit a couple of jump shots there and we got cold and if you have a team like that with quickness and speed and that much momentum, they took it and ran."

Busiel led the way for the Titans with 14 points while junior center Conor McCarthy's seven points in the second quarter allowed Glenbrook South to carry a lead into the locker room. Busiel went ice cold in the second half, however, as several of his outside shots rolled in and out of the basket. He finished with just three points in the second half, while McCarthy was held off of the scoreboard entirely. The Titans also failed to put pressure on the Bulldogs' defense, not drawing a foul for the first seven minutes of Friday's contest.

"We have to learn from it," Widner said. "Part of the message was we want it, but it has to happen on the floor too. You can't just say you want to rebound or box out or get a loose ball."
