Jubril Adekoya scored a game-high 20 points on just nine shots from the floor as Andrew thumped Lincoln-Way West 63-45 Friday in SouthWest Suburban Red play.
Adekoya, a Valparaiso signee, finished 5-for-9 from the floor and 10-for-12 from the free-throw line, adding eight rebounds, three assists and two blocks to pilot Andrew (11-7, 6-1), which dished 15 assists on 21 field goals.
Hayden Witt led the Warriors (1-16, 0-7) with 17 points and freshman Jon Marotta scored 14 in the first half on 6-for-7 shooting. Marotta, however, managed just one point in the second after Adekoya switched to him defensively.
“[Marotta] was doing really well in the first half, so I was just trying to take the leadership role defensively and shut him down a little bit,” Adekoya said.
Luke Hook and Mike Grenda netted 11 apiece, Glorind Lisha scored 10 and Gino Karopulos added nine to round out Andrew’s starters.
“When Glorind, Mike Grenda, all my guards are hitting shots, it makes the game 1,000 times easier for me,” Adekoya said.
