Niles North, one of the top teams in the Chicago area, will be without senior Lorenzo Dillard for the rest the season, Vikings coach Glenn Olson confirmed Monday.
Olson said the 6-2 starting guard was dismissed from the team, but the coach didn’t comment as to why. Niles North athletic director Karl Costello also would not comment on Dillard’s situation, other than to report he’s no longer a member of the team and will not be reinstated at any point.
According to the Skokie Police Department, Dillard was arrested and charged with domestic battery Jan. 27. Dillard didn’t play Friday in the team’s 56-54 win over Maine West, which gave the No. 13 Vikings at least a share of the Central Suburban North championship. The victory also gave the Niles North (20-3, 8-0) its third consecutive 20-win season and fifth in program history.
Niles North plays at home Friday against Maine East and on the road Saturday against Hersey.
