The star
Nazareth’s Dan Kienzle scored eight of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter. The senior guard shot 9-for-15 from the field.
The moment
About 10 seconds after Fenwick’s Keshaun Smith tied the game at 53-53 on a drive, Nazareth junior Kevin Connelly answered when he scored inside and was fouled. He hit the free throw to put the Roadrunners (13-12) up for good at 56-53 with 1:44 remaining. Connelly, who scored seven of Nazareth’s final eight points, finished with 13.
The quote
“This was one of my better games this season, but I can’t take all the credit. My teammates were getting me the ball in good spots to score and the team played great defense. Coming up with a big win over Fenwick, our neighborhood rival, was big. They’re a great team.’’ — Kienzle
The breakdown
The game was close, despite the Friars (15-8) shooting 32 percent (19-for-60) from the field. Nazareth made 21 of 44 (48 percent) shots from the floor. Fenwick was led by Dan Dwyer (17 points, eight rebounds).
