A 10-0 run to start the game was pretty much all host Bolingbrook needed in its 60-43 win over Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban Blue on Friday night.
“It was their Senior Night tonight, so they were playing with a lot of energy and enthusiasm,” East coach Rich Kolimas said. “We had a lot of good looks at the basket but we couldn’t make the shots. We started turning the ball over and they just fed off of that.”
The Raiders led 18-7 after the first quarter before forcing seven Griffins turnovers in the second period to help build a 34-15 halftime lead. Bolingbrook’s Ben Moore scored eight of his game-high 19 points in the second quarter.
“We did a good job with intensity and with what we needed to do,” Bolingbrook coach Rob Brost said. “When you have a returning All-Stater in Ben Moore, that’s how you expect him to play.”
Bolingbrook (19-8, 11-4) heads into the playoffs hoping to ride the momentum from the victory, while the Griffins (8-17, 3-12) hope to quickly forget about the loss.
“We have to put it aside,” Kolimas said. “Now it’s 0-0. Win, you keep playing. Lose, you go home.”
