The newest offer on the board for Hinsdale Central junior tight end Ian Bunting is Notre Dame.
“The Notre Dame offer feels really great,” Bunting said. “It’s a big offer, and I’m definitely interested in Notre Dame football.”
Bunting also picked up an offer from Oregon in the past week.
“It’s my first offer from out west, they’re consistently a top 10 team in the nation, so that’s awesome,” Bunting said. “I’m definitely very interested.”
The Hinsdale Central standout has an early top three of Notre Dame, Oregon and Vanderbilt. Other schools that remain high on Bunting’s list are Iowa, Indiana, and Northwestern.
Purdue junior day visitors
Several of the Chicago area’s top prospects made the trip to West Lafayette Sunday for junior day at Purdue.
Included on the visitors list was Mount Carmel junior defensive lineman Enoch Smith Jr., Thorton wide receiver Jauan Wesley, St. Charles East sophomore offensive lineman Brennan Bosch, and St. Francis freshman quarterback Justin Berry.
“I had a good time,” Smith Jr., said. “We took a tour of the campus and then I had an opportunity to speak with coach Darrell Hazel. I think my favorite part of the visit was just spending time with coach and getting to know him.”
Other impressions of the Boilermakers junior day were positive.
“It was a lot of fun and they have great facilities,” Berry said. “My favorite part of the visit was probably getting a chance to see the field and the locker room.”
Thorson visits Wildcats
Wheaton North junior quarterback Clayton Thorson took a weekend unofficial visit to Northwestern.
“It went very well,” Thorson said of the visit. “I had a good time with the players and had good meetings with the offensive coordinator and with Coach Pat Fitzgerald.”
Thorson holds twelve offers, including a new offer from Syracuse.
“One thing I like about the Syracuse offer is that the offense is more pro-style,” Thorson said. “That would translate well to the next level because that is a goal of mine.”
New offers out
The offers continue to roll in for Plainfield South junior linebacker Clifton Garrett, who picked up offers from LSU and Clemson recently. De La Salle junior offensive lineman Jamarco Jones was offered by Virginia and Benet sophomore quarterback Jack Beneventi added an offer from University of Massachusetts.
