(Left-Right) Lincoln-Way East's Mylasia McWilliams, Joliet Central's Anashay Cove, Lincoln-Way Central's Jalyn Hobbs, Homewood-Flossmoor's Faith Martin, Sandburg's Rachel Distor, and Bolingbrook's Alex Rodriguez sprint to the finish during Saturday's trac

Sandburg sophomore Megan Sullivan said she needed a nap Saturday afternoon.

After capturing top honors in two events at the SouthWest Suburban Blue indoor meet at Bolingbrook, she deserved one.

Sullivan won the long jump with a mark of 15 feet, 2 inches and the triple jump at 32-33/4. She also placed second in the 55-meters hurdles (9.75 seconds).

“I’m pretty proud, I’m not going to lie,” Sullivan said. “This is my first year ever doing triple jump. (Coaches) put me in it the first meet of the season. I had to learn it and I came in first for it, so they were like, ‘Hey, you’re actually good at this.’ ’’

Sullivan helped Sandburg take second with 103 points behind champion Lockport (108). Lincoln-Way Central finished third with 88.

The Porters had a strong day in the field, placing 1-2 in the high jump behind Jessi Wernsman and Carolyn Dietz. Wernsman notched gold at 5-feet. Dietz, a freshman, cleared 4-10.

“This season I’ve been jumping a lot lower than I’ve wanted to jump,” said Wernsman, whose career best is 5-3. “So to jump five feet and win conference as a sophomore is a confidence booster.”

The Porters' Lane Kadlec earned first place in the shot put (35-51/2) and also was part of the 640-meter relay team (1:32.88), which also took top honors.

J.J. Robinson, a returning state qualifier in the mile, led Lincoln-Way Central. Robinson ran the fastest indoor time of her career and took first in the 800 at 2:28.

“Two of the Lockport girls came close to me, but I out-sprinted them,” Robinson said. “Usually I start out fast. I don’t have the best kick, I just try to hang on. They were right on my neck. My coach and my dad started screaming at me, so I knew they were close.”

Sandburg cross country standout Carly Krull was first in the 3,200 (11:16.20).
