Former Oak Park-River Forest state high-jump champion Carl Heinz returned to his alma mater to help current Huskies jumper Christopher Wright-Madison prepare for the state meet.
Hinsdale South is looking to defeat Lyons, which it feels it had a good chance of doing earlier this season had it not been errors that plagued them. The Hornets will have that chance, as they defeated Nazareth 25-17, 25-18 Monday at the Benet regional and advance to face Lyons tomorrow.

The first four batters in Oak Forest’s order went a combined 10-for-14 with nine runs and four RBI as the host Bengals went on to a 12-2 victory over Tinley Park on Tuesday in a Class 3A regional quarterfinal.
Metea Valley won its last four series in the Upstate Eight Valley and the Mustangs’ conference progress continued Monday with a 10-0, five-inning win over East Aurora in the Class 4A Oswego Regional quarterfinals.

In a game dictated by two solid offenses, Metea Valley emerged with the 8-7 win over West Aurora on a bloop single by Alise Perna in a Class 4A regional quarterfinal at Metea Valley Monday.
West Aurora has been a streaky baseball team this year, starting the season 6-0 before losing 16 of 17 and winning seven straight. The Blackhawks began the playoffs Monday by beating Marmion 3-1.
Jimmy Ward allowed six hits, and held Elgin to one run as Hoffman Estates earned a 3-1 victory on Monday and advanced to the semifinals of the Class 4A Bartlett Regional.
Stevenson's Willie Bourbon is a rare three-sport athlete. Through talent and hard work, the sophomore hasn't been forced to narrow his focus and doesn't look to be doing so any time soon.
