Burlington Central scored five runs in the final two innings as it defeated Hampshire 6-1 in the Class 3A Burlington Central Regional championship game. It is the Rockets' fourth regional title in five years.

Plainfield South pitcher Shane Ritter, who had never played the position prior to this season, survived a shaky first inning and when on to four-hit Joliet West on Saturday to capture the Class 4A Joliet Central Regional championship.
Vince Damato scattered four hits, walked one and struck out one as Dundee-Crown upset top-seeded Huntley 3-0 in the Class 4A DeKalb Regional final on Saturday.
Burlington Central beat Marengo twice during the regular season, but the Indians eliminated the Rockets from the playoffs for the second straight year with a 4-2 decision in the Class 3A Sycamore Regional championship game.

Seniors Carlos Varela-Hernandez of Neuqua Valley and Riley Kittridge of Waubonsie Valley carried it to an extreme Saturday when they finished second and third in the discus in the finals of Class 3A boys track state meet.
After winning only seven games in the regular season, the Aurora Central Catholic softball team has won five playoff games. The latest came Saturday when the Chargers knocked off Gordon Tech 10-3 to win the Class 2A Lisle Sectional at Benedictine University.
Left-hander Nick Huskisson made a three-run first inning stand up as St. Charles East defeated host Geneva 5-2 Saturday in a Class 4A regional final. The Saints have knocked Geneva out of the playoffs three of the past four seasons.

Left-fielder Sam Cottingham-Beard tossed out the potential tying run at home plate to cap a double play and end the game Saturday, preserving host Oak Park-River Forest's 3-2 Class 4A regional final win over Loyola.
Lemont got an easy goal in the fifth minute and added another later, as it defeated Marian Catholic 2-0 for the Class 2A Lincoln-Way West Sectional championship.
