The Public League has shifted its premier event, the boys basketball tournament, all over the city the last few years. With a potential brand-new arena near McCormick Place, the Public League might finally have a place to call home.
Abby Ramirez hit two home runs, including an inside the park homer to start the first inning, as Trinity defeated Naperville Central 4-2 Saturday evening at the Ballpark in Rosemont. It marked the RedHawks' second loss in as many days.
Chicago Christian's Wally Findysz scored the first run of the game and later smacked a three-run homer to lead the Knights to their own Class 2A regional title with an 11-1 win over Ag. Science on Saturday.
Joliet Catholic held Mount Carmel to five hits as it shut out a Catholic League Blue team for the second night in a row to win the Do It Stevie's Way tournament.
Lane won its seventh consecutive Public League title Saturday, defeating Young 6-2 at UIC. The Indians have won 14 of the last 16 Public League titles.
Rachel Fugiel pitched through a hand injury and struck out out three, and her sister Rebecca tripled among three hits and had three RBI. That was enough for Westminster Christian to win its first regional title with a 7-4 victory against Christian Liberty on Saturday.
Meaghan O’Hara was determined to make the most out of her chance for Benet. O’Hara got free following a pass from Lindsy Kendrick and placed an attempt just inside the post to give Benet a 2-1 victory over Downers South in the Class 3A Downers Grove South Regional final. .

Second-seeded Lyons beat seventh-seeded Glenbard East 3-0 for the Lyons Regional championship in Western Springs after a loss in last year's regional final ended a nine-year run of regional titles.
Trinity scored seven times in the first half and Heather Baran notched her first career hat trick as Trinity rolled to an easy 11-1 regional title game win over Lake View.
Naperville Central's mindset is all about getting ready to play on Saturday mornings for the playoffs. Playing on the final Saturday of the regular season, the No. 10 Redhawks defeated York 8-0 in Elmhurst.
Crosstown rivals Hinsdale Central and Lyons battled it out for the Western Suburban Championship Saturday afternoon in Western Springs and the Red Devils prevailed, 9-8, in double overtime.
Neuqua Valley scored early in each half of its Class 3A Bolingbrook Regional final matchup with Naperville Central en route to a 3-1 victory over the Redhawks for the Wildcats' 12th consecutive regional title.
Immaculate Conception used an early goal in each half to win 2-0 over Queen of Peace in Saturday’s Lisle Class 1A Sectional title game. The Knights joined the school’s 2008 team to become the second in program history to reach the state’s Elite Eight.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
