Homewood-Flossmoor pitcher Jameson Lamb suffered a devastating injury last summer when a flaming projectile from a Roman candle firework exploded in his right eye. Despite the mishap, Lamb has returned to the mound this season.
After flying under the radar while containing a model of consistency for its program, Parker will play in the Class 1A state semifinals on Friday with hopes of obtaining the school's first state championship.

Westmont junior Tim Doll came from behind to win his 400 heat Thursday in the IHSA Class 1A boys track preliminaries at Eastern Illinois University, while Mooseheart's Wal Khat qualified in the 800 and 1,600.
Emery Barnes looks to bring home the first medal in a horizontal jumping event in Neuqua Valley program history at the upcoming state meet at Eastern Illinois University.
Hinsdale Central used a variety of defensive schemes to throw Lake Forest off its game, controlling the tempo in a 16-12 victory on Wednesday evening. The win at the Montini Supersectional advances the Red Devils to the state semifinals for the eighth consecutive season.
