Andrew freshman Kayla Plastiak blasted a two-run home run homer to give the Thunderbolts a little breathing room en route to their 7-3 victory over Neuqua Valley in Friday's Providence Softball Tournament quarterfinal.
After surviving a one-run first inning, Andrew pitcher Hannah Theilmann went on to shut down Lincoln-Way Central 6-1 behind a strong Thunderbolt defensive performance on Thursday afternoon.

SouthWest Suburban Red foes Andrew and Stagg are set for a Class 4A regional semifinal showdown Thursday at Sandburg. Through the years, the Chargers and Thunderbolts have built up quite a rivalry.
Jake Pearson and Tony Mikrut each won two events and swam on two relays that also qualified for the state finals in leading host Lincoln-Way North to the sectional title with 254.5 points.
Andrew’s Tiana Karopulos played the second half of Tuesday’s Class 4A Andrew Regional semifinal with a heavily taped hand, but the senior still managed to lead the Thunderbolts to a 43-32 win over Stagg.
