Three-sport athlete D.J. Deolitsis turns his attention to setting the table for the Hinsdale South baseball team this spring. Last season, the speedy left fielder swiped 31 bags for the Hornets.
Hinsdale South and Fremd, two teams that are expected to vie for the state title, showed their depth and strength by running away from the other teams at the Schaumburg Invite. The Hornets won by a mere two points.
Hinsdale South standout Emma Adcock has been to the mountain top. The senior has won a state title and has focused her attention on helping her team accomplish more this season.
After being a member of the doubles state championship team last year, Hinsdale South’s Emma Adcock will move over to singles competition this season to help the Hornets catch the elusive team state title.
T.F. South returns six state qualifiers and is ranked No. 1 in the Sun-Times badminton rankings. Here is a full list of the top 10 teams and top individuals for this season.
Hinsdale South senior Gunnar Wagner appeared in two relay races in the preliminaries and qualified in one individual event. He finished 27th in the 50-yard freestyle Friday at New Trier in Winnetka.
Oswego East fought through a slow start on it s home floor and played more efficiently in the second half to pull come away with a 64-52 win over Hinsdale South in Monday's Class 4A regional quarterfinal.
While Hinsdale South’s season ended in the first round of the Little Village Regional, denying the Hornets a chance to take on state powerhouse Young, the team still had an unexpectedly successful season.
Along with easily winning the Lyons Swimming Sectional, Hinsdale Central qualified all three relays and nine individuals for next weeks state finals meet at New Trier.
