Elite sprinter Aaliyah Brown was joined on the podium by all of her Lincoln-Way East teammates Saturday after the talent-rich Griffins rolled up 79 points to win the Class 3A state title at O’Brien Field.
Lincoln-Way East won 11 events and scored 168 points to claim the conference title over runner-up Homewood-Flossmoor (102) and third-place Lockport (81) in Saturday's SouthWest Suburban Blue meet.
Homewood-Flossmoor won eight of 18 events at the Trevian Invitational Saturday to edge second-place Young, 104-98. New Trier (83 points), Metea Valley (75) and Niles West (69) rounded out the top-five.
In her first high school outdoor track meet, Lincoln-Way North freshman Kayla Hylton won both sprint races in a strong field and also ran a leg on the 400-meter relay for the Phoenix at Saturday's Homewood-Flossmoor invite.
Brother Rice's Rudy Yates Jr. ended his freshman season with a state title and a perfect record, earning him a spot on this year's SouthtownStar All-Area team. Check out who else made the cut.

Malek Harris led host Sandburg with 17 points as the Eagles rallied from an eight-point first-half deficit to upset No. 14 Homewood-Flossmoor 71-68 in a Class 4A regional semifinal.
Homewood-Flossmoor’s post players combined for 35 points and the visiting Vikings ran all over host Joliet Central in a 78-51 SouthWest Suburban contest Friday night.
