Libertyville concluded the two-day I-55 Showdown at Stevenson on Saturday by dropping a 21-6 match to Parkway West (Mo.), a school located just outside of St. Louis and winners of the Missouri state championship in 2012.

Libertyville's new-look 200 free relay qualified for state, while Mundelein's Jason Begrowicz has improved dramatically this season. While the school doesn't have a boys team, Carmel was represented well by five swimmers at the Vernon Hills Sectional.

Libertyville freshman Emma Davellis held her own at the girls bowling state finals at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford this past weekend. Davellis finishing 58th overall with 2,318 pins.
The Carmel girls gymnastic team’s bid to win a fourth consecutive state title came to an end at the Stevenson Sectional Feb. 7. New Trier won with 144.4 points to qualify for state, while the Corsairs were nipped 142.45-142.425 by Lake Fores
Harlem led the Barrington Sectional Saturday with seven state qualifiers while Libertyville (six wrestlers) and Barrington, New Trier (five each) also placed several state qualifiers.
The Libertyville players, mired in the midst of a miserable season, have suddenly regrouped, and their 87-80 win over visiting Mundelein on Friday was the second big victory in the last few weeks for the 4-18 club.
Libertyville’s Olivia Mayer finished with a game-high 16 points — on 8-of-10 shooting — for the Wildcats, who trounced host Warren 40-26 in the North Suburban Lake finale for both clubs.
