Lincoln-Way East’s Carissa Ernat blasted a bases-clearing double to spark a six-run sixth that broke open a 1-1 tie as the Griffins went on to win 7-1 over Providence Tuesday.
Lincoln-Way East won 11 events and scored 168 points to claim the conference title over runner-up Homewood-Flossmoor (102) and third-place Lockport (81) in Saturday's SouthWest Suburban Blue meet.

Lincoln-Way East’s sprinters and short relays have run a national schedule this season with incredible results. Led by senior Texas A&M recruit Aaliyah Brown, the Griffins have already set a pair of all-time state records in the sprint relays.
After scoring four runs in the top of the seventh inning, No. 19 Lincoln-Way East withstood a four-run Sandburg rally in the bottom half to escape with a 7-5 SouthWest Suburban Red win Wednesday in Orland Park.

Jenny VanGeertry established herself as an effective DH in 2012, hitting .447. This season, the Lincoln-Way East starting left fielder is hitting .462, with a .533 on-base percentage and .555 slugging percentage.
Lockport (26 points) notched five runner-up finishes and placed second in its own loaded 12-team badminton tournament on Saturday. T.F. South claimed the title with 31 points.
