West Aurora junior standout Emma Spagnola accounted for 36 team points with three individual wins and a third-place finish in the high jump to lead the Blackhawks to the team title of the Kane County invite for the fourth straight year with 131 points.
Luke Horton pitched five shutout innings, allowing three hits, walking one and striking out two, in Batavia's 12-0 nonconference win over West Aurora on Saturday. Horton improved to 3-0 and has yet to allow a run this season.

West Aurora season’s ended at the hands of Proviso East for the second year in a row at Tuesday’s Class 4A Hinsdale Central Supersectional. The Blackhawks finished the season 24-7 and will return leading-scorer Jontrel Walker for the 2013-2014 campaign.
Paris Lee scored a team-best 18 points to lead Proviso East to a 62-52 victory over West Aurora for a Class 4A supersectional title at Hinsdale Central. The win sets up a rematch of last season’s Class 4A title game in which the Pirates fell to Simeon.
West Aurora senior Josh McAuley had 22 points, 18 rebounds and three blocks in Tuesday’s supersectional loss to Proviso East. “I don’t think you’ve seen the best of him,” West Aurora coach Gordie Kerkman said.

The DuPage Valley Conference Board of Control voted unanimously last Friday at its monthly meeting to allow West Aurora and Glenbard East to leave the conference after next school year and join the Upstate Eight for the 2014-15 school year.

West Aurora struggled offensively, but got it done when it counted from the free-throw line on its way to a 42-38 win over Benet at the Class 4A Bolingbrook Sectional final Friday.
With much of the focus on the battle in the paint between Benet’s Sean O’Mara and West Aurora’s Josh McAuley in Friday’s Class 4A Bolingbrook Sectional final, the two big men dueled to a virtual draw.
