While some traditional playoff programs failed to qualify for the postseason this year, numerous teams who were left out last season are in. Two feel-good stories are Benet and Willowbrook, playoff-bound a year after finishing 1-8 and 0-9, respectively.
Running back Nick Horne scored two touchdowns Saturday in Rich East’s come-from-behind 20-14 win over Bloom Saturday. Quarterback Malcolm Miller broke free for a 25-yard touchdown run with 2:20 left for what proved to be the game winning points.
Junior running back Justus Brantley rushed for 387 yards and five touchdowns on 24 carries to power Bloom to a 43-15 victory over visiting Bloom Saturday in Southland play.
