Joliet Catholic threw a scare into top-seeded Minooka, but the Indians prevailed 25-21, 22-25, 25-18 in the championship game of the Joliet Central Regional.
Jake Walenga recorded 10 kills and Brad McFarland returned to action for the first time since injuring his ankle in practice on Monday to help Lincoln-Way North earn a 25-16, 25-18 victory over Lincoln-Way West in the Lincoln-Way Central Regional final on Wednesday.
Joliet Co-op senior Jack Carney will be making his fourth straight trip to the state meet when competition begins Thursday. He will be joined by his younger brother, Tom, who he defeated in sectional action last week.
With Eight of Minooka's 11 qualifiers ranking among the top 10 in their event for Friday's Class 3A state finals, the Indians are aspiring for a top 3 finish.

Minooka (31-2), the No. 1 seed in the regional and the fourth-place finisher in state a year ago, erased deficits in each game and rolled to a 25-15, 25-14 victory over Plainfield South. The Indians move on to face Joliet Catholic.
Plainfield Central's Kaleight Nagle is hitting .471 with seven homers, 30 RBI and 37 runs, and has a 22-3 record in the circle with a 1.49 ERA and 114 strikeouts. She has committed to play for UIC.
