After winning five state titles and 11 medals over the past three seasons at Lincoln-Way East, Aaliyah Brown plans to make a statement in her last appearance at the state finals by setting new IHSA records. Brown qualified for the finals in four events on Friday.
Andrew Helmin was one of two two-event winners, as he won the 100 and 300 hurdles. Lincoln-Way Central won the team title at the Homewood-Flossmoor Sectional.
Mother McAuley had to overcome a Fenwick comeback and the power going out Thursday at Stevenson, but it defeated the Friars 8-7 Thursday. The win sends the Mighty Macs into the semifinals against St. Ignatius.
