Four players scored for Barrington in a 5-0 win against Huntley in the Class 3A Jacobs Sectional semifinals Tuesday. The outcome marked the fifth straight year the Broncos have knocked the Raiders out of the playoffs.
Buffalo Grove got revenge against Glenbrook South, who had knocked the Bison out last season, by defeating the Titans 3-1 at the Mundelein Sectional semifinals Tuesday.

When Greg Murray and Eric Wing play in their first state meet Thursday, it will end a bit of a drought as far as Hinsdale South doubles teams are concerned. The last Hornets doubles team to reach the state meet was Josh Lapidus and Mike Zevin in 2008.

Despite not being able to repeat as high hump state champion, Emma Haugen did set a career-high by jumping 5-8. Unfortunately for Haugen, she lost by a tiebreaker, as it took her opponent fewer tries to hit 5-8.

Hinsdale South's Tavaris Binion said he and Hornets coach Dean Norman have grown closer over the years. Track practices and meets are not only about “shop” talk, but Binion and Norman have taken time out to talk about each other’s families.

New year, new partner, but yet another trip downstate for Jack Wennerstrum on the doubles competition. Wennerstrum and partner Chris O’Reilly look to have better results than last year's squads had.

McKenzee Kroeschell's success in pole vault for Oak Park-River Forest has caused a spike in the number of vaulters on the Huskies track team. Kroeschell capped her career on Saturday by placing second at the state meet.
