St. Charles North dropped the first set of the West Aurora Tournament finals against Schaumburg, 25-27, but came back to post 25-18 and 25-11 wins to take home the tournament crown and improve to 5-0.

Providence scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie and held on for a 5-3 victory over Plainfield Central. In the second game, Minooka scored twice in the bottom of the sixth en route to a 3-1 victory over Joliet Catholic.
Host Plainfield North continued its blazing hot start Thursday with a dominating performance against a shorthanded Minooka squad, rolling to a 4-0 win in a Southwest Prairie opener.
Minooka held off surprising Eisenhower to finish the Plainfield North Invite as champions. The Indians were led by Matt Svetlecich with 12 kills and three aces.

Oswego’s Elliott McGaughy and Miles Simelton combined to lead the Panthers to a 28-win season. The top two scorers in the Panther’s program history have been selected Beacon-News Co-Players of the Year.
