There was no denying the Kaneland boys track team Saturday at its 44th Annual Peterson Prep Invitational. The Knights took the 16-team meet by a wide margin, 145.3 to 58, over runner-up DeKalb.
Minooka’s Steve Wittkamp and Joe Carnagio each hit two-run homers while pitcher Mitch Vogrin was effective in the elements as the Indians defeated host Plainfield Central 14-7 in Southwest Prairie Conference action Tuesday afternoon.

Providence scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie and held on for a 5-3 victory over Plainfield Central. In the second game, Minooka scored twice in the bottom of the sixth en route to a 3-1 victory over Joliet Catholic.
