Buffalo Grove capped its dream season with a trip to the United Center where it played for the Blackhawk Cup varsity combined state championship against Rockford on Sunday.
New Trier Green finished atop the rankings by knocking off No. 2 Glenbrook North 5-3 in the Blackhawk Cup state championship game on Sunday. The victory marked the Green squad's 11th state title. Benet, Sandburg and Naperville North round out the top 5.

Rockford rallied back against Buffalo Grove/Hersey/Wheeling Sunday at the United Center to take a 2-1 OT win and claim the state title in the boys combined division.
New Trier Green and Glenbrook North will meet for the Blackhawk Cup state title Sunday at 6 p.m. at the United Center. The Trevians hold a 3-0 series lead over the Spartans on the year.
The last time Glenbrook North played in a state title match, Ryan Maksimovic watched from the United Center stands as the Spartans fell to the New Trier Green, 3-2. This year, the team's leading scorer, Maksimovic, will be on the ice.
New Trier Green will be going for its 11th boys hockey title in 15 years Sunday when they face off with Glenbrook North. They're led by their upperclassmen this season.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
