Pat Richardson, who amassed a mark of 433-232 in 24 years as Brother Rice's basketball coach, has resigned, effective immediately. He will remain at the school as a social studies teacher.
Brother Rice senior Alex Majewski scored 16 points to lead the Catholic League All-Stars to a 103-96 victory over the East Suburban Catholic All-Stars Friday at St. Laurence. Marist’s L.J. McIntosh scored 21 points for the ESCC.

After Seton coach Brandon Thomas issued a statement regarding the IHSA's sanctions against him, IHSA executive director Marty Hickman was more than willing Friday to discuss Thomas' accusations.
The IHSA announced Wednesday that Seton coach Brandon Thomas will not be allowed to coach the Sting in the next two IHSA state series and will be on probation next season. On Friday, Thomas responded with a statement.
On Wednesday the IHSA sanctioned Seton and Harrisburg coaches for their involvement in poor sportsmanship displayed during the boys basketball Class 2A title game. On Thursday, Seton principal Marianne Lynch issued a statement addressing the sanctions.

In the aftermath of the Class 2A boys basketball title game, the IHSA has sanctioned both Seton and Harrisburg head coaches and the game officials. Seton's Brandon Thomas won't be able to coach the Sting in the next two state playoffs, and has been placed on probation for next season.

The Public League has shifted its premier event, the boys basketball tournament, all over the city the last few years. With a potential brand-new arena near McCormick Place, the Public League might finally have a place to call home.
Lane won its seventh consecutive Public League title Saturday, defeating Young 6-2 at UIC. The Indians have won 14 of the last 16 Public League titles.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
