Simeon became just the second team in Illinois history to win four consecutive state boys basketball titles as it defeated Stevenson 58-40 Saturday in the Class 4A final at Carver Arena in Peoria. Jabari Parker led the way with 20 points.
For one half, Stevenson belonged on the same court with Simeon. But a 31-24 halftime deficit turned into a 58-40 final, as the Wolverines ended the Patriots magical season, winning their fourth straight 4A state title in front of a loud and boisterous crowd inside Peoria’s Carver Arena.

Sophomore Jalen Brunson scored a team-high 21 points, and Andy Stempel added 14 as Stevenson knocked off Edwardsville 60-49 in a Class 4A state semifinal Friday at Carver Arena in Peoria. Up next for the Patriots, a finals date with Simeon.

The Public League has shifted its premier event, the boys basketball tournament, all over the city the last few years. With a potential brand-new arena near McCormick Place, the Public League might finally have a place to call home.
