St. Francis defeated Grayslake Central, 6-3, in the state semifinals to advance to the Class 3A state championship game at Silver Cross Field in Joliet. The Spartans scored three runs in the fifth to open up a two-run game.
Since state tournament play began, Libertyville is 5-0 and will play Friday against St. Charles East in the 4A semifinals. The Wildcats will play again on Saturday afternoon, either for the state championship or for third place.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
