Lauren Webb scored 21 points and Brie Bahlmann blocked Montini’s three-point try to tie with under 10 seconds left in overtime as Vernon Hills stunned the Broncos 48-45 in a Class 3A state semifinal Friday at Redbird Arena in Normal.
After falling 56-38 to Montini last year in the Class 3A state title game, Vernon Hills has a shot at redemption with a rematch against the Broncos on Friday in the Class 3A state semifinals.

Jenny Vliet scored 14 points to lead Rolling Meadows, which used stifling defense to thwart Evanston 54-31 in the Class 4A Niles West Supersectional on Monday.

Evanston won its first sectional title since 2000 with its 54-42 win over Maine South Thursday evening at the Loyola Sectional. On Monday, the Wildkits will be looking to get downstate for the first time since 1991.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
