Bowen wrestling coach Ron Wilson has built the program from the ground up and turned it into one of the most successful in the state. Now, amid a potential school closing, he's providing kids a source of structure and and purpose.
Neuqua Valley’s dual-sport athlete Andrew Geers, who finished second in the Class 3A 285-pound state wrestling finals, confirmed this week that he intends on pursuing wrestling at the college level.
Brother Rice's Rudy Yates Jr. ended his freshman season with a state title and a perfect record, earning him a spot on this year's SouthtownStar All-Area team. Check out who else made the cut.

After enjoying a brief vacation with his wife, OPRF coach Mike Powell will return in March to train several of his wrestlers for the club season. Afflicted with polymyositis, Powell has also become an inspiration for countless people.

Sandburg topped Marmion 38-17 to capture its second consecutive Class 3A state title. The Eagles dedicated the title to their late athletic director Bruce Scheidegger, who was killed in a car accident on Feb. 10.

Montini's 49-10 victory over Geneseo in the Class 2A state championship gave the Broncos a sixth consecutive state title and a record-breaking 11th state championship overall.

Oak Park-River Forest won the two regular season meetings, but Sandburg came out on top in the state quarterfinals, defeating the Huskies 33-23 Saturday morning. Sandburg kept its dream of a fifth state title in nine years alive with the win.
Marmion proved that it can hang with the big boys Saturday in the Class 3A team dual state meet at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington, defeating Minooka and Lincoln-Way Central.
Antioch wrestling coach Wilbur Borrero had a simple goal for his team at state: Bring home some hardwear. His team's fourth-place finish assured got them the hardwear they were looking for.

The IHSA on Wednesday released its new Football Acclimatization Policy, which will govern how often and how long teams can work out at the start of the preseason, along with what equipment they can wear. The concept is to protect the players, but it doesn't come without some contradictions.
